CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA

               This is one of the easiest and simplest curry that one could make. It’s filled with flavours and heart-filling aroma. If you have pre-cooked chicken tikka in your freezer and if you have some sudden guests for dinner, this dish is a breeze to make. I clicked the pics in a hurry burry. Didn’t have time for even a simple garnish. Next time when I will make this, I will try to get a decent pic 😉

Ingredients

Chicken tikka – 15 pieces

For Masala

Onion   –   5 medium, sliced
Tomato   –   3 medium, sliced
Garlic   –   10 cloves
Ginger   –   2 inch piece
Green chilly   –   5
Red chilly powder   –   1 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin powder   –   1/4 teaspoon
Garam masala   –   1/2 teaspoon
Kasuri methi   –   1/2 teaspoon
Cardamom powder   –   a pinch
Oil   –   1/4 cup + 2 tablespoon
Salt   –   to taste
Water   –   2 cups or accordingly

Method

Cook Chicken Tikka according to this instruction.

For the gravy/masala

Heat oil in a deep bottom kadhai.

Sautè onions till it becomes translucent.

Add chopped tomatoes and sautè till it becomes soft.

Add ginger, garlic and green chillies.

Add some salt and cook for a couple of minutes.

Turn off the flame and let it cool.

Transfer the onion tomato mixture to a blender. Add 1 cup water and blend it to a fine paste.

Heat 2 tablespoon oil in the previous kadhai.
Now pour the onion tomato paste and add 1 more cup water.

Add red chilli powder and mix well.

Let it boil. Next, add in cumin powder, garam masala, cardamom powder and kasuri methi and mix. Adjust salt.

Add in cooked chicken tikka and cover and cook for another 5 minutes.
